Lorenz Potocnik is an architect and father of Vivian born in 2001. Based in Vienna, Austria, Potocnik's practice is concerned with a wide range of crossover projects and research in the fields of architecture, urbanism and art.

He co-founded the architectural collective feld72 which has been honoured with several international awards including the Austrian State Award for Experimental Architecture for their "urban strategies". Potocnik left feld72 in 2004 to pursue outside opportunities and freelance, recent projects include several conversions in Vienna, a public place in Linz and project development and consulting for works of art and installations in and outside the region. His work has been exhibited internationally. A current research fellow at MIT, he is working to develop "Hummus 2050", a visionary large scale and long term initiative that aims to transform the East Mediterranean Region. Potocnik is teaching at University of Applied Arts in Linz since 2003. He is at present Assistant Professor at their department of Architecture.

Born in Vienna in 1971, Potocnik spent time growing up in Paris and Geneva and went on to train at the Vienna University of Technology, School of Architecture in Portsmouth (GB) and Delft University of Technology (NL). He also served in an alternative civilian service in Tel Aviv from 1999-2000 and has traveled extensively in the former Eastern Bloc and the Middle East.
