Strategically situated, Eilat (West) lies on the short piece of land that connects Israel to the Red Sea. This coastal city´s economy is based on tourism and the established free-trade zone.
Aqaba (East), located across the bay from Eilat, also has an economy which revolves around tourism and the free-trade zone. Like Eilat is for Israel, Aqaba is the only access to the Red Sea for Jordan.
