Cyprus

This small island off shore the East Mediterranean coastline is of great symbolic value for creating an interconnected region. An agreement between the Turkish north and the Greek south is within reach with the symbolic gesture of the opening an important border crossing. Additionally it has developed as a successful tourist spot, with tourism becoming one of the most important industries for its economy – a role model for the mainland. Moreover, Cyprus could function in HUMMUS as a bridge between the East Mediterranean Region and the European Union.
