Tel Aviv/Jaffa is the largest agglomeration and economic area in Israel. Most of the foreign diplomatic offices are located in Tel Aviv, a modern Mediterranean city. In the metropolitan region of the so called “Gush Dan”, there are several additional cities that form a high-technology corridor. Tel Aviv/Jaffa road infrastructure is overtaxed with daily traffic jams; this has lead to the planning of a subway system. In contrast to Jerusalem, it has a reputation of a casual, western-style city.
